SY21 Bak FSA ELA/Reading May 11th & 12th

Dear Bak Parents/Guardians/Students/Faculty & Staff:

The April 13th FSA Writing and make-ups were a great success! Our next FSA assessment is FSA ELA/Reading (all grade levels), which will be administered on May 11th (Session 1) and May 12th (Session 2). Teachers will remind students of their testing locations (it is the same as Writing). Please read below for updates and information that has already been shared.

IMPORTANT: 7th & 8th grade students must bring wired earbuds for the listening portion(s) for the FSA Reading Assessment. If a students does not have wired earbuds, please have them alert the Testing Administrator and earbuds will be provided.

Due the increased amount of students dropped off in the morning on testing days, the student drop-off will be opened at 7:30 am. Please make sure you leave in time to ensure you child is dropped off at school before 8:10 am. Testing started late April 13th due traffic, so we are opening up our parent line 30 minutes early!

Students Arrive Time: Student Drop-Off Area (NEW - Drop-Off opens at 7:30 am)
•    Parents must use the Student Drop-Off/Pick-up Entrance located on North Shore Drive (do not use the Main Entrance).
•    Students must arrive on campus no later than 8:10 am – Traffic will back up due to the increased number of students
•    Make sure that you continue to pull-up your vehicle and that your child is ready to exit the vehicle.

District Transportation for Virtual Students – You were provided your mode of transportation in April - Ride the same bus as you did for FSA Writing and/or what you were assigned by Transportation.

Day of the Test: May 11th and 12th FSA ELA-Reading Session I and Session 2
•    Do not come to testing if you are not feeling well (there will be make-up days scheduled at a later time).
•    Know your testing room/location and Test Administrator name.
•    Students must eat a good breakfast (free breakfast is available at school for all students). If remaining on campus after testing, student should bring a lunch (student are eligible for a free lunch).
•    If eating breakfast at Bak, students should arrive at 7:40 am so they have time to eat. Doors open for car riders at 7:30 am.
•    Virtual Students who arrive on campus before 8:00 am report to the Main Stage – arrival after 8:00 am, they go right to their testing locations. If they are eating breakfast on campus, they go to the café and remain in the cafeteria (café).
•      6th gr. students that want breakfast go to the café, then go to the gym. After 8:00 am, they go to their testing location.
•      7th grade students report to café if eating and remain in café - if they are not eating, then they report to Main Stage.
        After 8:00 am, 7th grade students report directly to their testing location (if not getting breakfast).
•    8 th grade students report to café if eating and remain in café - if they are not eating they report to the courtyard. After 8:00 am, 8th grade students report directly to their testing location (if not getting breakfast).
•    Per State rules, students may not wear a SMART Watch or APPLE watch (it is also against School Board Policy).
•    Students must have a purse/backpack/ bag to put their cell phone in – Cell phones or other electronic devices may NOT BE in a student’s possession during the test (not even in a pocket)! This is an automatic test invalidation.

Schedule Below: After Students Have Completed FSA ELA- Reading Sessions on May 11th (Even) and May 12th (Odd)
Brick & Mortar students will go to class after testing. Virtual students who remain on campus will report to the Main Stage after lunch. Virtual students who leave school after testing (before lunch) will join their classes when they get home.
•   PERIOD 4/3: 10:43 am – 1:00 pm (4 lunches; note the times and change in order)
•   Lunch: Virtual students who are not leaving campus after testing. 10:45 – 11:15 
•   Lunch A: 11:20 – 11:50    Class time    10:43-11:18, 11:52-1:00
•   Lunch C: 11:55 – 12:25    Class time    10:43-11:53, 12:27–1:00
•   Lunch B: 12:27 – 12:57    Class time    10:43-12:25
•   PERIOD 2/1: 1:04 – 1:44
•   PERIOD 6/5: 1:47 – 2:28
•   PERIOD 8/7: 2:30 – 3:10
DISMISSAL BEGINS AT 3:10 PM

Parents who are Picking up their Child After Testing is Over on May 11th and 12th (students WILL NOT Eat Lunch at School)
•    Barring any late start time(s) due to transportation issues, parents must use the Student Drop-Off/Pick-up Entrance located on North Shore Drive (do not use the Main Entrance) to pick-up their child at 10:40 am (before lunch begins).
•    Pick-up times DO NOT apply to virtual students who receive extra time accommodations. The “extended time” virtual students will contact their parents when they are ready to be picked-up from school.
Students Who Miss Class Due to Testing
•    Students who miss class due to testing, including virtual students getting transported to and from school, will be coded as an “S” in SIS. The “S” is an excused absence,(school activity). Students make up work without penalty.
•    Virtual students who leave campus are expected to attend class once home or using their cell phone.
